Hi, I'm Breeanna
WHO AM I?
I am so many things. I am a Dekalb resident. I am a woman. I am a student of life. Moreover, I am completely out of my comfort zone! I always tell others to embrace discomfort because it cultivates change. In times of uncertainty, you are the most vulnerable and can see clearly things for what they are. This usually puts you at a crossroads: choose to evolve or stand still.
I am choosing to evolve.
LEARN, PLAN, EVOVLE
That decision has led me to run for your Dekalb county commissioner. As a social advocate for the community for the last 9 years, I have dealt a great deal with direct client services. This includes but is not limited to case management, psychotherapy and community linkage. The policies and funding allocations in place often have direct affects and/or has unintended consequences to the clients I serve. Navigating these policies has made me well informed and conscious of the needs of community.
Undertones of injustice and oppression echo through the halls of court rooms, schools, social service agencies etc. Therefore, they exist in our local government. With inclusion, transparency and the appropriate allocation of funding, it can be improved. But nothing of this magnitude is done alone!
It’s going to take all of us to choose change. It’s going to take all of us to weigh in on the issues that effect us. We will have to share our experiences, good or bad, to create a new perspective. Your issues are my issues and together we can learn, plan and evolve.
